420 SEL manuals

Looking for a factory manual on an 86-87 420 SEL. mainly concerned with fuel system, vaccuun lines, sensors, component failure codes, emissions shtuff etc. If a manual can not be found perhaps some pointers would be of great help.
Just started the car for the first time after tossing old engine out and rebuilding another with a new timing chain, idle speed seems too high (about 1300rpm)and a bit rough.Could be something as simple as crossed (or missed) vaccuum lines, the diagram on the frame does have a couple of questionable areas. For example, does the fuel pressure regulator line really hook up to a...breather hose from the rocker cover?

FastLane or PartsShop sells a manual on CD. Not the best publication quality but it's the best you can get from MB.

You'll want the W126 series of CDs.

Thanks Sixto,
So far I have tried two other cd's and they have even less info than a tune up manual! I have one from popular mechanix (someone fooled me on ebay) on the 420 and the amount of info is just pityful. An older cd on a 300D from alldata was "based" on the Benz manual, someone just ran parts of the manual on a scanner!!! Both times i was assured i was gonna get the real thing! Do these "Benz" cd's contain the same (and ALL!) the info of an official factory manual?

The MB shop manual CDs for the 126 contains the chassis, engine and ACC volumes as well as electrical diagrams. No transmission information, not even R&R. Oh, there's a 91 420SEL/560SEL/560SEC owner's manual. Not too useful if you have a 300SD.

The CD is comprised of so-so to pathetic scans of the paper manuals. About the quality you'd expect from folks who were serving community service sentences. Some of the wiring diagrams are illegible on screen, complete garbage when printed.

I understand there is a technical reference/maintenance volume (covers all MB models for a model year) that covers things like oil changes. It isn't included.

The official CDs are scanned in copies of the real manuals in PDF format. So they contain all of the same information.

For fuel injection, this is the best book:
