RJ,
Do you have pics I can see. I'm very interested in them. Any idea what the shipping would cost to NJ? Vaanii |

I won't be offering fittment advice as it would be only worth what you paid for it.
Center caps are included. I'll post some pics tonight. I'll look into shipping this weekend if I have a chance, but I'm betting its fairly expensive.

I bought the chrome wheels from RJ (first post in this thread), deciding to try them on my 300E. I'd read that some folks thought they'd fit and others said they stick out too far. So I figured for $200 I might as well see for myself. The rear wheels look ok, but the fenders would need rolling and possibly a 215 tire instead of the 225. The fronts look a little silly, because they do stick out pretty far. The outer lip of the rim is flush with the fender, the tire protrudes beyond that.
So, the wheels are for sale again. $200 plus shipping. Located on the Peninsula in the SF Bay Area. Local deals preferred. Thanks |

Can you post a picture of all wheels? How's the chrome? Any pitting, flaking, bubbling, or cosmetic blemishes?
Are the wheels "true", not bent? BTW, the only way IMHO you can use 500E wheels on any other W124 (save the Coupe) is to use 205/55R16 tires. :-) neil 1988 360TE AMG 1993 500E |

I'll try to post pictures later today. The chrome is in good shape, not excellent. A couple wheels have small sections of chrome about half the size of a dime missing from the wheel lip. There is also some curb rash on two of the wheels. The chrome on the face of two wheels has faint swirl scratches, possibly from cleaning with too roucg of a brush. From 10 feet away, the wheels look good, get real close and you'll see the slight imperfections.
The wheels appear to be true. I installed them for a 20 mile drive and they felt fine. I didn't see any signs of lip damage that would translate to a bent wheel. Do you thing 205/55R16 tires would fit on these 8" wide rims? (The wheels look good on my car, I guess I'm hoping I can find a way to make them fit.) Gebhard |

Yes, the 205/55R16 tires fit on the wheels, and clear the fenders on all W124's.

Hi Neil-
205/55/16 vs., OEM 195/65/15 on 300E? Would this fitment have excessive space between the fender lip to tire? tks-fad |

Using the Michelin MXV Energy tires as the baseline, according to TireRack's data the stock 195/65VR15 tire has an overall diameter of 24.9-inches.
A 205/55VR16 tire has an overall diameter of 25-inches. IMHO, 1/10 of an inch would not make much of difference. More importantly the wagon about 2-years ago did have 500E wheels with BFG KDWS 205/55WR16 tires and it fit perfectly. :-) neil 1988 360TE AMG 1993 500E |

Thanks for the tire fitment info Neil. I guess I'll buy some 205/55R16 tires and use the wheels on my 300E. I have the Yoko Avid DBs on my wagon and like them alot. Probably go with those.
My apologies to anyone looking to buy the wheels, I guess since I'm going to buy new tires, the wheels are no longer for sale. Thanks! Gebhard |
