1978 240D For Sale - Parts Car

Hey,
I have an old 1978 Mercedes Benz 240D 4 Cyl. diesel for sale. I am completely parting out the car. The interior is in excellent condition. The body is OK, with some useable parts that don't have rust on them. It has a great 4 speed transmission. When I drove the car it ran good but the fuel injection is screwed up so it doesn't currently start. Since there isn't much interest in the car itself I am planning on completely parting out everything to collectors. I live in Lancaster, NH and am willing to ship anywhere. Give me an e-mail if you are interested in ANYTHING, I'll let you know the condition, price, and try to provide a picture.
Thanks,

Dave

Stripping.

munkee,

I'm constantly pushing people on this site who have faulty automatice transmissions to replace them with the manual tranny.

Why don't you offer to sell a complete conversion kit by assmbling all the parts off your car.

Transmission, flywheel & bolts, clutch & pressure plate, pedals, shift linkage and shift mechanism from inside the car. Don't forget the electrical pigtail that goes from the shift knob mechanism up to the plug on the tunnel next to the driver's leg. Make certain that you include the hydraulic tubing, metal and rubber from the clutch master cylinder to the slave cylinder on the tranny!

Somebody here with a bad automatic would love to get all the parts in one place.

Ben

Dave,

What color is the interior? A few pics of it would be useful for us.

The elusive Henna is hard to find, ain't it?

I kinda wish someone would kill off a 123 around here. I wouldn't mind having a parts car.

Yeppers, that is the one that got me thinking about it. The interior from that one would make practically a new car out of my 240D. That one is too far away though. My little pickup and trailer couldn't handle a job like that.

What color interior are you looking for? If all goes right I'll be retiring the 80 here in the next 2 or 3 weeks. It has what I'd call a saddle looking color in it, I think it's what would be considered Palomino, I will have no use for it once the car retires, as the 82 has Henna in it. It's in good condition overall with only a few blemishes. The front seatbacks both have a 1" spot in them that looks like a knife stab, and the driver seat bottom has a small torn spot on the side that you kinda have to look for to notice, otherwise the pleating is still great and the material/padding is still soft and pliable. The driver tunnel carpet (side of the center console) has an oil stain in it I never tried to get out, from a PO that let it get oil in the vac system up to the ignition switch. I bought a replacement piece at the wrecker, but it is a velvety looking fabric and the carpet is a deeper pile, I never installed it so I have both. I still do have one matching underdash panel, Since one was missing I replaced both halves with tan but kept the half I still had. Door panels, armrests, and pouches are in great shape as is the headliner and all carpeting besides that one piece.

My 240D is a Euro. Interior is cloth, kind of a light yellow color, not normally seen on US MB's. The cloth is dirty and faded, worn through in some spots. The cloth interior is not anywhere near as good as MB Tex. Carpet is OK.

The seats and door panels need to be replaced. The carpet and headliner would stay. Donor car interior could be just about anything from cream to palomino / saddle, as long as all pieces matched each other. Donor car would need to have crank windows, meaning it would be a 240D or possibly 230 / 280 if any of those still exist.

California is just too far though. The cost of shipping the seats would exceed their value, and too far to borrow a pickup and go get them.

Paul,
The FW PNP has had a Euro 230E for a month or two now. It has the light colored cloth interior, with rear headrests. It could stand a cleaning but is in good condition.
Seats on half price Wednesdays are $9.99 for fronts and something like $14 or so for each back piece. Had the cloth door panels also. Crank windows.
China has been enjoying the carpet....

Thanks Jimmy, but if I'm going to swap out the whole interior, I want to go to MB Tex. I'ts just so much better than the cloth.
