Fitted Luggage for 1959 220S Sedan
My father has enlisted my help to sell the Fitted Luggage from his 1959 220S Sedan (why he kept the luggage after selling the 220 I do not know). It should fit other years as well, I'm not sure, though. In overall good condition, there are 4 pieces: 2 large trunks with inside trays, 1 meduim trunk and a smaller "shoe" trunk. They were a factory option and were listed as "4 piece luggage set, corduroy" on the original purchase order for the car. He even still has the keys that came with it (and the locks still work).
I have no idea as to the value of this set. Pictures availible on request. Please email questions to jportteus@joink.com . Last edited by tylerport; 07-18-2003 at 05:06 PM. |

This is probably worth cross-listing or linking in the vintage forum.

I have the Body, Chassis and Engine numbers that this luggage set was originally sold with. Also, here are some links to pictures I've posted:
This picture shows them arranged as they would fit in the trunk: http://www.joink.com/homes/users/jportteus/allluggage.jpg This one is of them all standing: http://www.joink.com/homes/users/jportteus/allagain.jpg This one shows a stain that is on the bottom of one of the large trunks. It is the worst of the blemishes: http://www.joink.com/homes/users/jportteus/2largetrunks.jpg Here is a close up of the Medium sized piece: http://www.joink.com/homes/users/jportteus/mediumtrunk.jpg Here is a shot of all of them with three of them open: http://www.joink.com/homes/users/jportteus/luggageopen.jpg Here is one of the large ones open. Each large piece is identical inside: http://www.joink.com/homes/users/jportteus/largeopen.jpg This picture shows a close up of one of the handles. You can also see some of the stains left behind from moving stickers that were once attached: http://www.joink.com/homes/users/jportteus/handle.jpg This is a close up of the inner tag which is in all of the pieces: http://www.joink.com/homes/users/jportteus/innertag.jpg Last edited by tylerport; 07-23-2003 at 08:22 PM. |

to the right person these are probably worth a lot of money. Keep them as a set. Try putting them in hemmings motor news or THE STAR

It is the Mercedes Club of America Newsletter. It is just like a magazine, but you get it when you become a member.
