Jim, my curiosity is killing me.

What do you have planned for this engine and tranny?

A project car.....??

JimF 07-25-2003 07:33 PM

Well, Paul it's for a friend . . .

who wants to put this engine/tranny into a W126 chassis! And he lives in Ghana!

Not sure of all the details but that's what he wants. . . . so I said I try to find one.

What do think. . will it be sucessful??

suginami 07-25-2003 07:51 PM

It will work, but it's a helluva lot of work.

Satish has done this conversion to his W126 SEC.

It is featured on his website:

http://www.mbcoupes.com/memberscars/T/satishtummala/satishtummala.htm

He posts here under the name: stummala.

Berg Werks also does the conversions. They have a shop here in So. Cal:

Tnx, Paul for the info . . . .

Had forgotten about that: Satish did a great job on that conversion. Forwarded this info to my friend.

Anyone have an idea how much $$$ went into Satish's project? How much would it cost to buy his car if it were to be for sale?:D

1989 500SL is the M117 motor, not M119 motor like you guys are confusing it.

Does your friend want a good motor with low miles or something to build up? let me know,

JimF 07-28-2003 11:30 AM

I'm glad somebody knows their . . .

engines! Tnx for the correction.

My friend is interested in the M117 motor but after seeing Satish's conversion, he may have changed his mind. Also, coincidently, there's a good eng/tran/electronics on Ebay with low miles.

But since he lives in Ghana, we don't exactly communicate in real time, so give me some details of your "good" engine/tranny that you have. TIA

omegabenz 07-28-2003 02:33 PM

Which W126 car does your friend have?

A M119 motor would be very difficult to put in if he doesnt have access to mercedes parts easily.

M117 is what those cars came with so it would be much easier to put that in.

No real time, do you mean post office mail is how you talk to him?

I've sent you an email.
