WANTED: Speedometer cable for '79 SD

I am looking for a speedometer cable for a 1979 300SD. I talked to one place and they said that with cruise control it was a dealer only item, so I am desperate.
Thanks
David

Does the engine shake much at idle? If not I may be interested in the engine shocks (I'm cheap, only 17 on limited income). What condition are the front spealers in? Or at least the right front all though either would fit. Also how much would you want for a door contact switch to just throw it in with the other stuff? I will let you know soon on what else I need and more details.
Thanks
David

Want -

If your odometer is broken, the new cable may not last long...you may want to post in the tech section about this job first. I replaced my 116 sd cable and the new one lasted an afternoon. Is your odemeter functional?

Mike

To make a long story short I cut my old cable because I was on the side of the road and thought I was losing tranny fluid so I thought that if I cut it I could replace the hose around it so it would no longer leak. I know, I am very stupid.
Thanks
David

David-

Well in that case you should be on your way after replacement!

Don't feel bad about cutting it, it was just a mistake...we all make them.

Good luck with it.

Mike

PS - how do you like your SD? Those 116's are special cars.

I bought the car August 4th from the original LADY who bought it new. It does have rust, but has been garaged and not that bad considering other w116's. Only has 187,000 miles. The interior literally looks brand new! Except the back seat, but that is common for the 116's to wrinkle. Can't tell you enough how much I love my car.
Thanks
David
