WTB Smaller steering wheel for w123

Looking for a smaller wheel than the stock big rig wheel. Supposedly early 190 or 190 sport is a good candidate. I'd look at anything that fits though. Must be in decent shape and cheap.

I've priced those, Nardi wheel is easily $100-$200 plus $60 for hub adapter. Someone has to have a take off wheel for cheaper than that!

beans are not for counting, they are good for the hart...

Bit the bullet and get the Nardi.

You will be pleased.

otherwise make your own with a pie plate.

You do realize that your view of the instrument cluster will be compramised? This should be something to consider, as a smaller wheel will force you to move your head / take your eyes off the road to read your gauges.

If I am stating the obvious, I apologize.

Mike

PS- Does a Nardi wheel allow for the horn to be funtional?

Yes Nardi wheel allows the horn connection via the hub and horn
button.
The smaller wheel only obstructs the top part of the speedometer
which indictes miles per hour around the 65 to 75 MPH area.
However you can see the kilometer per hour scale which is on the lower level of the gauge.
So I just use the KPH numbers to set my speed.
All other gauges are visible without impediment on my '79 300d.I

Cheers

my wheel

Hello
This was my solution to this problem....like it or not its what i did.
My father and i took a grant adaptor, and machined it and the wheel to bolt to the wheel that i found. I settled for a ford f - 150 wheel that i picked up for 25 bucks, however a cheep mercedes wheel of ebay would work the same. i then carved out the missing airbag section with ren foam (an industrial designers modeling tool) to fit the lines of the interior and the wheel. my dad wired the cruise buttons in the wheel to act as the horn buttons to the contact slip ring. i placed a new stlye center cap in as the mercedes star, thinking it would be too large, but it looks pretty good actually. as far as visability it cuts off the top of the speedo, and the top ends of the fuel and tach, but if you know your car and follow your needles mentally you know where they are. the grant adaptor was about 40 bucks i think from advanced.
pictures email me
jake
ps this had to be done on a budget too because i was at school.
