1982 Mercedes 240D - Parting out or selling - Seattle

Hello all -

I have decided to sell my 240 - I have found a nice 300SD that is running smoothly. I will sell parts or the car - The information on the car is as follows:

I bought the car last summer, as a car that was going to get me around until I found something that I really wanted. I bought the car from the orginal family that owned the car - It is whitw with a tan interior. it has somewhere around 204,000 miles.

The good: it has new glow plugs, and also new fuel filters, and also a new vacuum pump. The interior of the car is in great shape - the only piece that is missing is the 2 inch piece of wood above the headlight switch. I have looked at alot of these and the seat are in good shape - no cracks - and not worn at all. The arm rest is worn though. And the radio works but the tape player does not. and I never got a chance to see about getting the a/c to work but the heat is hot.

The bad: I was driving the car one day and the next it started to smoke and I mean alot (mostly when idling) - the white / grey / blue - with a very strong smell of unburnt diesel fuel. I thought it was a vacuum pump problem - I got a new vacuum pump installed it - it did not seem to fix the problem, it ran fine though besides the smoke - I drove it for another couple of weeks just looking the other way when people would pull up next to me and point to the car and mouth "you car is smoking" . I let it sit for about 2 weeks - which lead to my next problem - it would not start. I went to the shop this time and he told me that I first should change the fuel filters - I did - and still nothing - so he told me to do the glow plugs - I did - but they might not have needed them because after I changed the fuel filters I did not bleed the fuel system the right way. I know this because when I was using the hand pump fuel was leaking out when I pumped - so I replace the had pump and built up the pressure. After I bled the fuel system the right way the car started. I let it run for about 15 to 20 minutes still producing lots of smoke (I did this under the shade of night to hide the smoke from the nieghbors, although I am sure they smelled the diesel fuel, my wife did) once it was completely warmed up I tried to take her for a spin around the block but it died everytime I put it in reverse to get it out of the drive way. I think that if I could put it in drive and slam on the gas it would go. The guy at the shop agrees, and thinks that after all of the trying to get it going has the engine pretty washed with fuel. He also told me that who ever told me to get the vacuum pump was wrong - he thinks it just needed a valve adjustment. When it was running I ran a couple of bottles of redline diesel purge through it - just so you know. And also when the car went dead - there is a good chance it was very close to out of gas (just an FYI).

I do not have the time to deal with this car anymore - so I am looking to sell it or part it out - it you want to buy it I will sell it for 450.00 or best offer. I can take pictures or answer questions if anyone would like.

Is there coolant in the oil or vice versa?

If so you probably blew a head gasket...I can't really figure out why once it is running that it would die when you put it in reverse...That seems weird to me

Looking for the sun visors, left and right. You mentioned the tan interior. I have the Palamino color interior if that is what you mean by "tan". I could also use the wood interior panel that surrounds the shifter. Thanks.
