Totaled my 84 300D Turbo 2 weeks ago. Palamino interior, puke yellow outside color. What is wrecked: front end (lights, radiator, condensor, oil cooler, bumper, hood etc.) 438,000 extremely well cared for.
What I'm keeping (don't ask for it) engine, half shafts, brake calipers, master cylinder, cruise control amp, a/c compressor and drivers front seat. Perhaps some interior wood parts. Wind deflector and the relatively new Bilstein comforts and the polished bundt cake wheels. Mats, a/c push button unit and maybe the seat nets.
All the glass is good, paint is in very good shape, don't remember what kind of shape the front fenders are in from the accident. The dash has a minor crack near the right front speaker (however I don't relish spending 4 hours removing it). The trans is still in extremely good shape, very firm shifts, but the front and rear seals leak, amazingly its original. I'd rebuild it before I'd spend the energy to re-install it. Rear bumper.
Car will be stripped this Saturday in the South Bay area of Los Angeles at my mechanics. (if you haven't seen a Bosch mechanical fuel pump test bench he has one.) If you are interested in anything I haven't mentioned let me know. I reserve the right to say "oh I forgot about that".
BTW the Freightliner I hit now has a cracked fiberglass fender and the Corian it was carrying was not damaged. :-)
