Offset for wider wheels

I'm looking to upgrade my wheels on the 1995 E420 (W124 body style).

I'm looking at a set of AMG wheels from a CLK 430.

They're 7.5 x 17 ET 37 front and 8.5 x 17 ET 30 rear. My car's original wheels have an offset of 44.

I know that offset often needs adjusting when going to wider wheels, but are these wheels too far from stock to put on my car?

Thanks,
Troy

17x7.5 ET 35 is the widest wheel I would recommend

upgrade wheels

If you want to upgrade your wheels get AMG or other aftermarket rims that came from the W140 or W220 s class they have the same offset as our w124. you can go with up to 18x8 front and 18x9 rear 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 no rubbing and they look great. Hope this helps. et 35 is pushing it too far out especially in the front they mite rub.

Aren't the bolts for W140 and W220 wheels different than those on W124s? I seem to recall that the bolt seating surfaces on the wheels are larger on the W140/220, and the bolts necessary to properly secure these wheels are too big to fit the hubs on W124s.

w140 bolts vs w124

yup you are correct the w140/220 rims use bigger threaded bolts but it is not the bolt thread that locks the wheel in, it is the bolt seating surface which is the same for both. So just use a proper w124 bolt and it works fine.
