Based on the information you provided I am pretty certain that it's for a Mercedes

Top marks there - no doubt - Whatin fact I'm trying to estavblish is how to distinguish between wheel studs for alloy wheels and those for steel wheels. I thought I read somewhere that the studs for alloy wheel had the mb mark but those for steel wheels do not. However, my car has steel wheel and studs witht he mb mark on - hebnce the confusion.

The bolt on the left is for alloy rims. The bolt on the right is for steel rims...

Although you probably know, they are not interchangable from alloy to steel. If you use the longer on steel wheels, they will hit the brake calipers. This most often occurs when people switch to alloys on 240's, but don't change the spare, or don't carry the shorter bolts for the spare.
