RFI: Daily driving experience w/PZero Nero M+S

Greetings ShopForum,

In the market for a good all-season 225/50[VWZ]R16 to fit new 16-inch wheels for my E420. Current shoes are Turanza LS-H in 205/60HR15 on the stock wheels. The Turanza is certainly the "safe" choice, but not my first choice when compared to the performance of all-season tires on previous vehicles.

The Pirelli PZero Nero M+S tops off the Rack's online customer survey for an UHAS tire. There were quite a few MB owners that responded with positive remarks, but their vehicles are mainly lightweight models (190E, C32, C230K) engaged in highly spirited driving. The other respondants seem to be the Japanese import and smallish BMW coupe crowd.

Does anyone have experience with these on a sedan of consequence (i.e. > 3500lbs) in wet/snowy conditions?

Thanks in advance!
-DM

PZero Nero V Pilot Sport A/S

Hey DM: I used to have the Pilot Sport A/S on my E55. They were useless on wet, dry or snowy roads. Even when the road was dry, ESP would kick on on the on/off ramps. I've since switched to the PZero Nero's and compared to the A/S's they are much better. Dry/wet traction is good. They seem to be better in the snow than the A/S's also. I couldn't get out of my driveway with the A/S's with the slightest amount of snow, now I'm out and down the road! In my opinion, these are decent tires in the snow, but but no means a snow tire. I'm very happy with them.

Gary,

Thanks for the information, that comparison is more appropos than you realize. My previous daily driver (3400lbs) wore the original Pilot A/S in a 225 profile; they were fair in the snow and exceptional in wet/dry conditions. If the PZero Nero compares favorably and has decent winter traction as well, Pirelli just found another customer!
