17"x8", 5x112mm, ET37 fit a w124?
17x8", 5x112mm, ET37
fit a W124? (1989 300E) What tyre size? (I do not want any rubbing!) |
max recommended wheel width ofr a w124 is 7.5"
|
I ran 18x8 et38 on my 300E. I did not rub, I ran 225/40/18 tires. The 17x8 should work, mecause the higher offset places the rim in a little further, if the offset were 30, you would rub for sure.

okay.... thanks, I wish the wheels I liked were available in 17x7.5!
But they are only available in 17x8..... |
Hi Rahulio,
Greetings from Australia. I'm in the same boat. I've just bought a '90 300CE, & don't know what is available that will fit my vehicle. The replica copies that I like are in 17 x 8 only, and all the tyre (sorry, tire in US) companies say 7.5 max width. I'd like to hear from any/all 300 owners if they have fitted a 17 x 8 rim & with what tyre sizes, to give an honest appraisal as to clearances available (both outer edge to fender, & inner edge to strut), & any rubbing problems (did the lips have to be radiused?). Cheers, Marc. |
Hello!
Welcome to the MercedesShop Forum!!!!!!!!!! I know for sure that a 17x7.5 et 35 will fit well if you use 215 size tires.... But, yes, I only like the 17"x8" designs! |
For the rear you could probably get away with a 235X45X17 or maybe even a 245X40X17if you "roll" the fenders. Not so sure on the fronts though. As listed in my sig. I wear the amg monoblocks(can't remember the offset) with 245X40X17 on the rear with no problems. No rub no nuthin, but I have flatten the inner lip on the rear fender down to nothing. As I recall the largest that I could run on the fronts before the front end graft were 235X45X17 but they rubbed just a hair at the rear of the FR fender. Now I run 245X40X17 MPS all the way around. And I run 18X9 with 245X40X18 on the FR of my 500E......The Tire Rack always quotes the "bible" and gives you a very conservative low install figure. As us constomizer if you want the true max

I want a 500E!!!!!!!!!

Thats really aggressive compared to what I want...! But tks anyways!!
ET 37 means that the wheels sits 2mm closer to the car... (inward) (compared to et35) So, by adding an half an inch to the width of a wheel, (17x7.5 to 17x8) That means that a 17x7.5 ET 35 wheel and a 17x8 ET 37 wheel compare as follows....... 2.54 cm in an inch, means 25.4 mm in an inch, 12.7mm in half an inch.... 12.7mm - 2mm = 10.7mm so a 17x7.5 et35 wheel sits 10.7mm (1cm) closer to the car than a 17x8 wheel. |
Any chance a 16x7 235-60 would fit on a 1989 300e or ce?
Or is this tire too "tall" |
W124 Wheels
I HAVE A 1990 CE AND 1993 300E BOTH RUNING 18X8.5 ET 35 WITH 225 40 18. never have any rubbing problems.
im trying to fir a 19x8 fr and 19x 9 rears with + 17 by saturday will let you guys know what the out come is |
17x8
I using a set of Pirelli 215-45x17 on 17x8 replica wheels. My 300E has Sportline suspension 1" drop. There is no rubbing, but it is close to the front struts so I don't think I can go wider there, nor do I need to.
