Wheel bolts? W210 rims on W124?

I just bought a set of W210 5 hole 16x7.5" wheels for my W124 E300D from Potomac German Auto. However, they do not come with lug bolts and PGA wasn't sure if these wheels take the same bolt as my stock 6.5X15 ET44 8 hole wheels.

I know the bolts vary in length for some wheels.

Can anybody tell me if the wheel lug bolts are the same for these two wheels and if not what the correct length of bolt is needed for the W210 5-hole wheels?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Mike,

Take your original spare tire out of the trunk. Take one lug bolt out of one mounted wheel. Put it through the hole on the spare and measure how far it sticks through. This shows how far the bolt is threaded into the hub. Now put it through the hole on one of the new wheels and measure the same thing.

Are you bringing your car to the MBCA Tech Session at Crown this weekend? We can compare our 16" wheels on our W124's.

Thanks!

Thanks Rodd,

That is a simple and easy way to check! My schedule is very tight this weekend but I would like to go to the tech session and will be there with my brother if possible.

So did they work?

I had to take an educated guess when it came to my wheel bolts. I just placed an order with this guy from eBay. He seems to have a good selection of wheel bolts for Mercedes.

I got lugbolts from that guy too...

I just bought them to have spares, I'm honestly not sure how I feel about chinese lugs, frankly I'd rather have used german ones, but I had great difficulty finding them cheaply (or at all), and I'm just not paying $8 apiece at the dealer.

I justr went through the same thing

Be very careful and do not drive the car with lugs that are too long. They will rip apart your emergency brake internals. My factory lugs were nearly two inches long.
It took a week to find the lugs I needed. I have a 01 E wagon (non 4-matic) and bought a set of 03 E class five star factory wheels. I found my short lugs (wheel studs) at Napa. Doorman is also a vendor that makes the bolts. 610-249 is their number for my application. I believe the measurements are as follows: 17mm hex headx M12-1.5 pitch x 27mm thread.

Do the spare tire lug bolt thing (as posted above). A general rule of thumb is: push a lug bolt through your new wheel bolt hole; on the back side of the wheel all you want sticking out (into the mounting holes) is aboutone inch of threads. I checked the thread length with the factory lugs (on the factory wheels) they turned eight times until they stopped (tight to the wheel carrier).

REMEMBER keep a set of five of your old lug bolts to use with your factory spare tire ! ! !

I currently have 5 spoke 210/208 wheels on my 123, 124 and 126. I used the 210 lugs for all.

Lots of lug bolts get replaced under warranty due to surface discoloration on the heads, i.e. they look like theyre rusting. I keep the old sets. A little silver paint and they're good as new.

fyi, the necessary part of the original lugs for a 124 are the same length as the 210 ones.
