reasonably priced 126 rims? where are they lurking?

I would like to get another set of rims for my SDL so I don't have to switch winter and summer tires twice a year. I need three, I can keep a snow tire on the spare, I called a junkyard yesterday and they were able to find 3 in Milwaukee ( I am in St Paul) for "maybe $200 each, including shipping" .
There have to be cheaper rims around - anyone know where they are?

I picked up a set of four 15" wheels for the SD. Going to replace the 14" Bundts.

You ready??

Cost was $117.00 and they were 50 miles away.

Needed paint of course, but, if you are patient, they come up on e-bay every so often.

Be very careful, however. There are some very similar 124 wheels that have a 49 offset. They won't work. Ask me how I know.

I thought you were the wheel guru????

I've got a line on a set of 190E 2.6 wheels. I wonder if they'd fit?

I know bicycle wheels, not car wheels. Ask me about spoke tension, or carpet fiber, or aerodynamics.

$200 each !!! Yikes That's a lot.
Go to The Tire Rack SDL Wheels you can find 15" & 16" Mercedes look-alikes from ASA for around $100 each Brand New. They are TUV approved (German DOT but much stricter) and have a good quality reputation. I'm getting a set of ASA Type-8 16"'s for my SDL next week

Tirerack.com had brand new 15 hole wheels listed for $99 each a little while back. They must be on some good drugs to ask $200 each for a 20 year old common wheel.

I used to get tense and then drunk- so I know what carpet fiber tastes like and how it leaves an impression on my face the next morning
BTW my indie has some aftermarket 15 hole rims on so-so tires- 23 et and for sale, all four. Dont know the price, but make an offer and I'll take it to him.

Those wheels probably have an offset of anything between 32mm - 35mm so, with the aid of 5mm spacers, you can use them with ease on your W126.

they are out there

I found 3 at a junkyard and got 2 more off ebay, I never pay more than $40 apiece. I don't believe in spacers and wouldn't run them on my jeep and I certainly wouldn't run them on my benz.

the wheel part numbers you are looking for are...

1264003002 15x7 et25 (I think thats the ET)
1264003102 15x6.5 et21.5

But whats even harder to find is the appropriate lug bolts. I cant decide if I should keep looking for used german lugs or go with new chinese ones...

good luck,

Thumbs up

Stuff here is $15 with tire, there was a special on them about 6 weeks ago for $11.

$200/ea is comical to say the least! Just keep looking about or call the pick yourself yards where you get soiled, deals are there if you look...

PLEASE TELL ME WHERE IN THE DALLAS AREA I CAN GET GOOD MERCEDES WHEELS WITH TIRE I FOR $15....I will be there this afternoon...The pick-a-parts in Grand Prairie and Dallas charge $35 PLUS, which is not a bad price, but the wheels are usually beat-up or the chrome is coming off.

It wasn't $35 last I checked, I was just out there last week... that's Pick-N-Steal off Loop 12 and Davis. If you're looking for 15" wheels, I haven't seen any out there honestly. There's a few 14s laying about here and there.

There's also All Imports in Haltom City near Ft Worth for some misc parts, they have some 15" wheels for sure.

Not much in terms of parts, driveline and interior are gone from these cars. But it's where I was able to score my power antenna before I parked under a tree and broke it.

ALSO - I wouldn't want the tires on my car that are attached to these wheels. Just makes the rim easier to move is all. They're severly weather cracked and the DOT numbers are from 2000 and older...

I have a set off an '87 420SEL and a set off an '87 190e

And I will soon have a set off an '83 300SD.

All come with tires, the 190's are pretty decent (last time I loked) the 420SEL's would need repaint as the clear coat is coming off, the '83's are decent, but they ar estill holding the car up.

190e with tires = $100 + shipping
420SEL with tires = $75 + shipping

You can expect about $25/tire shipping.

After I get a tire changer I'll be able to sell just the rims. (maybe soon)
