I just installed 18"x8" OZ wheels on my 1994 C220 and they came with new, shorter studs to use because the regular ones will now be too long. The problem is that I can not find locking studs in this size, so I ordered from tirerack ones that will fit my car but will be too long. I guess I'll have to cut the ends to shorten them so they are as short as new new studs. Anyone think this will be stupid? Maybe I can put some washers in front of the wheels? Or does anyone know if in fact they do make shorter ones?
Also, Tirerack said that they are actually made for BMW, the studs I ordered, but that they will fit my Mercedes? Sounds good to me, does anyone think they won't? Thank you!

Thank you for the reply, however I could't find any info on them on the web. Do you know their web site or one where they are sold? Thank you.

There is nothing wrong with cutting a couple of threads to get the right length, just as long as you file the end of the thread clean again. I did it for my former 190D as well.

There are two kinds of wheel bolts, one kind with a rounded head and one kind with a coned/triangle head. As long as you have locking bolts with the same shape as the wheel bolts it doesn't matter what car they were made for (as long as the length is right). NO WASHERS on wheel bolts!

greetingz,

Hi MBenz. I took care of it today, cut some threads off with no problems. I don't know what I was thinkning about the washers, I guess I didn't know at that time the heads were conical.
