I am looking for a source to confirm that I can replace my OEM tires, Continental Contitouring Contact 215/55R/16, with the Yokohama AVS dbs 225/55ZR16. Yokohama thinks it will be OK & they do not offer a 215, only 205 & 225. Mercedes Owner Assistance was no help. All they will tell me is that they recommend Goodyear tires! I have both sets of data & the OD is very close. I do not plan to replace the OEM wheels. I have read some very good reviews on this tire, but in most cases the wheels were not OEM. Any comments or sources would be greatly appreciated.

I have just gone through this on another post (search APB).
Someone suggested Michelin XGT Z4 (confirm) which I almost did.
Yesterday I got some 235/50/16 Toyo Ts-1 installed on my car for $150 each. They are exceptional and a perfect size match. The car now corner extremelly well and the ASR seem to never get engaged with the added traction.

You might just want to consider a Michellin because of its responsiveness and durability. It has a cutting edge in rubber technology that is able to dissipate heat (generated while on the road) quickly, thus causing less wear and tear. Good traction and handling without compromising on ride comfort.

The local MB dealer fits Goodyear tyres and they think its fine while I think otherwise.

I am partial to Michellin because at the end of the day, you'd still have the Michellins while the others would have been blown away or changed twice over. Just IMHO.

Go with the Yokohama Avid V4 in size 215/55VR16. The AVS dB was designed to be a "quiet" tire, and it is, however, a 55 series tire is already relatively quiet. The AVS dB noise feature is more useful with aspect ratios below 50. I also would prefer the 235/50/16 size on the W210, however, that size is limited and usually more expensive.
