1985 300TD wheel fit questions-1972 SEL wheels

I just bought 4 14inch wheels, with really nice, nearly brand new, Gislaved Nord Frost IIIs 205/70/r14, with studs, beautiful tires, made in Germany even, that supposedly came off a 1972 450 SEL. I cannot see any stamped numbers on my wheels but the ones I bought have some markings, albeit difficult to see.

questions are as follows?

Will these fit my 1985 wagon?
Will these fit just the rears?
Any other problems you can think of?

I mounted one of the tires and spun it around on the rear and it did not make any abnormal sounds.

Thanks for your help,
Love to all,

The kid

I have 72 280SEL steel wheels on my 81 300CD. no problems. You just have to use the shorter wheel lugs for a steel wheel. The alloy wheels use a longer wheel stud because the wheel is thicker. Too long and they WILL tear up the parking brake shoes in the rear!

Yes, make sure you use the corret lug nuts for steel or alloy wheel.

Some people have reported problems with the 6.5*14 alloy wheels on the W123. If the wheels are the 6*14 then there should be no issue.

Best regards.

the center holes of the older wheels sometimes are a little smaller. this makes it tough to get them on and off the 123 wheel centers.

it is close enough that it should be easily opened up with a dremel or something similar.
