Luke and other experts: tires for 91 300TE 4Matic

Located in sunny CT, looking for suggestions for a good year round tire for our newly acquired 91 300TE 4Matic (stock size 195/65/15).

Annual mileage will be low (likely less than 4k per year) mostly around town bopping with the occasional road trip.

Keeping her on the road in wet and snow matters most, then cost. Suggestions?

You may want to consider Nokian WR tires. I use them on our 4M wagon with very good results. They are one of the only all-season tires rated for "extreme service" (snowflake/mountain emblem) and thus may serve as snow tires. They last very well, and handle fine in the dry and wet. Many of us put our 4Matics in "test" mode for the summer months to help preserve the transfer case.

I appreciate the suggestion on the Nokians - looks like it might take some hunting to find them in the necessary size...... first round of on line poking is coming up empty.

Sure have liked doing business with Tire Rack in the past - any counter suggestions that you carry or can get Luke?

Nokians

We all wish TireRack would carry Nokians. We have asked. Like most of us, we support TireRack and their sponsorship of this Forum. However, until they do carry Nokians, those of us who choose this tire must look elsewhere.

My choice is Ryan at Tire Factory 1.800.576.1009. His prices are fair and he is a gentleman to deal with. (I am a customer only, with no affiliation.)

You may want to go for the 205-60/15 size, which is very close to the stock 195-65/15.

Regards,
Bob
