lug bolts -- CLK wheels on a 124?
hey all, I will be mounting the lightweight 16" CLK forged aluminum wheels on my 5-speed 124. I think ET is 34 or may be 37. 7" wide I believe. Any ideas if original lug bolts are good for this?
When I put the 500E 16" 8-holes on one of the others 124s the original lug bolts work but they are receesed so far it looks like they are not even there! Those are 8" wheels. I have seen the bolts available with an extended shaft and head, just haven't gotten around to buying them yet. Thanx.

I just got the same rims for my 400e - you need short lug bolts.

the lugs you need are about 24mm or just about one inch long.
I suggest you get them from a dealer, they need to look up a 1999 CLK and sort for the optional alloy wheels then the right lugs will be indicated. Watchout or they may look up stock wheels which use lug bolts that are too long. I run those wheels on my blue '87 300D but I didn't keep a record of the part# for the lugs. The wheels are a great improvement in handling too, especially with good tires on them In a pinch you can use the lugs for the spare steel wheels, they are the functionally ok but don't look as nice, the lugs for the alloy will have a smooth head, the steel wheels are forged with a recess in the top. here's some specs on the wheels I am using: • MB# A208 401 00 02 (Hollander 65179) • 7J X 16H2 ET37 • Originally fit Mercedes 1999 and 2000 CLK 320 and CLK 430 • Dished convex polished 7-spoke • Bolt Pattern 5X112MM • Forged, not cast alloy!
