Lightbulb What wheels should I get ???

Please read my concerns before voting.
I am having quite a difficult time deciding on what wheel to get so here are my pros and cons to the different wheels.
1- 18 in wheels, and tires are more expensive, I might have to get my fenders rolled, possible pot hole damage.
2- I relay want a 18 in wheel. (this is a huge point for me)
3- 17 in wheels, and tires are cheaper, not as great a risk for damage, best performance for my car, might have to roll the fenders

So here are the choice in order of preference.

Carlsson 1/6 Evo Diamond 18x8 (info from TR)

AMG Style 203 17x7.5

Carlsson 1/6 17x7.5

Those are the wheels I have narrowed it down to.
I am open to more suggestions, but as of now I am caught between the 1/6 Diamonds and the AMGs.

Tell me what you think

I like the AMG's. I have tinkered witht he thought of them for my car many times.

The carlson are nice, but I never liked those on the w124.

Come on Guys

Thanks Ashman, I still do not know what to get.
I was expecting more replies from this forum, or at least some more votes. Whats the deal, or did I just put it in the wrong place (but I don't think so).
Please vote for me.
Thanks
Subman

Of the three, I like the 1/6 Diamonds. I'm not crazy about the AMG 203 style, I prefer the 170 style AMG wheels on the 124.

Good luck!

Subman...as I am a fan of OE type wheels, my first choice would be the AMG 5-spoke...although I realize this wheel did not come on your car originally, it still retains the MB "heritage"...but what makes you happy is inevitably what makes YOU happy...so choose as you will, after all, it is YOUR car...with all of that said, the 1/6 Diamond is really a gorgeous piece...also, if you have no plans for your 8-hole wheels, let me know, I may be a player...BTW, I've been hovering at this site for a few months and have enjoyed and learned alot...now I've lost my cherry - this is my FIRST post...good luck, Sub, I'm sure you will choose the wheel that you really want...Bill

Welcome Bill,
Thanks for the reply, I know it is my choice but I think I need a little help on my decision.
I am now also considering the Carlsson 1/5 Diamonds, in 18 in form.

Subman...I'm not familiar with the 1/5's...post a pic, maybe? You seem to be a little confused, respectfully speaking...you realize the drawbacks of 18" wheels - fender mods, damage possibilities, tire expense and another yet to be mentioned drawback - ride quality...yet you say you really want the 18"ers...although I haven't run 18s, I'm sure with the short sidewall required to keep the original diameter, the ride would be quite harsh...IMHO, sometimes too much can be TOO much (i.e. too ricey?)...to quote Dennis Miller, "that's just my opinion, I could be wrong"...and to quote myself, "if we all liked the same things, it would be a very boring world"...again, good luck, Bill

That is what the 1/5's look like on a similar car to mine. I am aware of the ride factor and the look factor I want something unique and not to flashy. I guess I just did not mention that. Forsure I am confused but it is starting to come together.

Sorry Bill,
I forgot, as of now I have no idea what will become of the 8 holes, I may keep them for the other 124 in the family and sell those 8 holes, but I dont know what will happen. I let you know when I get my new wheels.

I have gone thru all the replies Subman, but to my mind i feel u should go for the 1/6 carlssons cos over time i have found out they are more rugged and steady giving rise to lower road noise

You said it...

Subman,

Defenitely you have a good taste on the wheel models you choose.

I'm glad that you are aware about the difference in comfort between a 17" and an 18" wheel. You said you want something unique and not to flashy, I guess a smooth and confortable ride is what makes MB cars so unique.

My personal opinion is that the Carlssons looks very classic and make your car looks elegant and sporty at the same time. AMG's are more on the sporty side.

I'll go for the Carlsson 1/6 in 17", but again that will be my own preference. Good luck !

Subman,

Of the three, I like the appearance of the 1/6 Evo Diamond.

you wrote "I relay want a 18 in wheel. (this is a huge point for me)"

You want the 18's........get the 18's
