Question Wheels for E320

I just recently bought a 95 E320 with the stock 15x7 with 48mm offset wheels and studded snow tires mounted. The car also came with a set of four Cooper Lifeliner 215/65R16 tires in the trunk. I know that these tires break the 3% rule, but would like to get a season or two out of them before buying the proper +1 16 inch size tires.

The previous owner evidently kept his 16inch summer wheels, so I am in need of wheels. Looking at original 16 inch mercedes wheels available on ebay, there look to be two possibilities for a good fit:

Wheels from a current E-Class that are 7.5" with 41mm offset. These would stick out 13mm more and give 1mm more clearance to the suspension, but I am concerned that 13mm might be too much both in terms of looks and possible rubbing with the 65 profile tires.

Wheels from an S-Class that are also 7.5" but 46mm offset. These wheels would stick out less (only 8mm) but would also bring the wheel 4mm closer to the suspension. I would like to go with the S-class wheels if I can, but will the absence of this 4mm be missed?

Luke or anyone have experience with these particular wheels (or a better recommendation)?

if I had to choose one of the option your mentioned I would get the 41mm offset. and I would not use the tires that were in the trunk because the diameter of a 215/65-16 is 27" and the proper diameter for your car is 25"

Would the 16/65's simply not fit (but apparently the tires came off this car and the front fenders on this car have been rolled--but I dont know what wheels were used) or would it be a matter of the speedo error and the gearing being a bit taller?

Assuming I were to forget the tires that came with the car, and start from square one: In order to gain in the handling department with little sacrifice in ride quality, would you say the best set up for this car is 16x7.5 rather than 16x7 wheels? And if so, what would be the optimal tire size? What would be the optimal offset?

Thanks!
