W129 16x8's on 126??

The chrome 15 hole flat face rims on the 560 look bad (chrome is peeling, one is curbed). I picked up a set of 15" alloys off a 420SEL (should be same rims) but when I mounted them, the lugs were catching in the parking brake. Closer study found the rims off the 420 to actually be 124 rims (6.5x15 ET48), I almost suspect the 420 had the parking brakes ripped out of it. A spacer allows the rims to fit on the rear as a temporary measure.

I spent the day going through EVERY tire/rim combination at the salvage yard. I found only one proper sized rim 7x15 ET25. Guess that size is fairly sought after.

I have the opportunity to get a full set of 129 rims, flat faced 15 hole alloys 8x16 and I think the offset is 31 (??). Anyone know if these would fit without rubbing or other problems??? Any idea of how they'd look?? I figure they'd be right out to the edge of the wheel well yet look stock.

If they are ET31 they will rub. But a 10mm spacer fixes that problem. Actually anything between 20 to 25 offset for 8 X 16 will work with the W126.

The offset is marked on the back side of the wheel, easy to check.

I tried to fit a 129 rim on a 560 at the yard today. They wont work, make contact with the trailing arm and the fender well. The size was 8x16ET34. Don't want to use spacers, so I hunted up a set of 560 rims.

Seemed like a doable idea, but wasn't.
