General Altimax RTs

Does anyone have these on their W126? comments? Need new rubber and I'm looking at the options.

Thanks.

General Altimax RT

The new tires were put on two days ago. So far I'm pleased. Quiet at highway speeds. We will see how they wear.

They are nice tires, for the price. I have them on three of my cars, a w201, w124, and w126. They wear fast on the front of the W124 it seems....they do great on the W201 (probably because its lighter) and "ok" on the w126...no where near as good as Michelin....

Please report back in two years.

So many people rave about their tires when they are new but they don't remain new for long, and we don't know what punters think of em at their mid point.

I have a new set of 15's and wore out a set of 14's (at a reasonable number of miles). I'd say that they are a very good tire for the money. They are pretty good in the rain and light snow (in an SL!!) even when a little worn. They MAY be a bit noisy for some.

2 years down the road my Altimax tires have worn very little and provided astounding all weather traction. I typically subscribe to the all season = no season tires but these have really surprised me in all conditions.

That's great to hear.

I've got 3 year old Michelin Primacy MXV4s with somewhere north of 50K miles on them that were at 50% remaining tread when I last measured them (a few months ago.) Still quiet, still smooth, still great in the rain.

I wish more people would chime in about their tires as the tires age. Anybody can make a good tire when it's new.

I'm wearing out my second set of Altimax RTs, 205/70R14. 80kmi from the first set, and I'll get at least that from the second set. First set, made in Brazil, were quiet but pulled to one side; second set, made in Mexico, noisy but ran true. Due to the noise, I'm considering Tiger Paw AWPII white walls for the next set. Wife has Altimax RT 205/60R15 on C220, quiet and will do 70kmi.

77 300D, 488kmi
