"Run Flat" tire question

My wife's car has Continental ContiProContact SSR run flat tires. I drove the car tonight to dinner and upon getting out of the car, I noticed the left front tire was very low. Checked it, and it is flat from a cracked valve stem.
Now there is a possibility that this tire was driven around flat for miles. When I drove the car, I didn't noticed anything, even the way the car handled.

So the question is, how long can you run on a flat- run flat tire before damaging it? After removing it at the restaurant parking lot, it appears to be fine.

Thanks in advanced for the input.

Officially. Until you can get the tire serviced.

Unofficially. Just like a compact spare tire; 50 miles.

Continued use with no air pressure can cause the tire to be damaged.

Yes a new tire was needed per the local tire place.

Here is Continental's position on SSRs.
