Would the wheels from a 300SD work on my '85 300D. I have resigned to the fact that there are no nice 16" wheels that look right on a 300D and would like to run the Mille Miglia looking wheels. Also, I assume that the tire should be 205/60/15's, right? Thanks.

Actually it would be better if you put 215 60 15...because then you get almost the same ride height as before. But if you want to go for a narrower tire then it's 195 65 15 that I recommend.

My biggest concern is the actual wheels fitting. Does anyone know if w126 model wheels fit the w123 model cars?

The rims won't fit for a W123 from a W126. They fit for a W124.

Dear Zachv,
I've got a similar quandry with my w123. I want to improve its handling and ride without using rims which don't belong on it. I've heard a rumour that you can get bundt cake wheels in 15" (with 7" width) which can hold a bigger tyre than the standard 14" rims and which will go straight on a w123 without any trouble. I've tried to confirm this information in this list but no responses yet... What rims and tyre size have you settled on? Best, David Rayment. |
