room in w124 trunk for 4 tires?
 

just need to know cuz i have to pick up 4 wheels / tires and don't know if it will fit...

Of course depends on the size of the wheel and tire, but I guess if we are talking about stock size or anything close, you have to remove your spare tire and use the well to fit one of them. The remaining three will easily fit inside the trunk if it's empty ( no subwoofer enclosures or toll boxes inside ).

But in any case make sure to bring with you and old blanket, carpet or fabric in order to cover your rear seat in case that you have to place one of them inside the cabin.

I had NO trouble fitting all four OEM rims and tires in the trunk of a 1991 300E. I did not need to remove the spare.

I fit four wheels with tires on them today in my trunk - 8 hole 15" OEM wheels with room to spare. Just double stack them.

Yes, that's the difference, stacking or not stacking. Unfortunately I am too picky with wheels and would like to avoid any kind of damage by stacking them.

Just throw an old blanket or something over the first layer, then stack in the second.

Don't expect to get four in the trunk of a 203 C Class. Most of the room is lost in the trunk of this little car compared to the 124. I do have the fold down rear seats which allows me to carry a lot of stuff in need be.

I'm certain you can get four wheels/tires in the trunk. I just had two back there side by side and there was room for another two on top of them. This was something I was specificially looking at for future reference.

The idea about an old blanket between the layers is a good idea for insurance against any kind of scratching.

I had replaced tires a few weeks ago and was successfully able to stack the set of OEM-sized wheels and tires on my W124...

...unfortunately, putting them into the trunk was a waste of time, as the car was on jackstands at the time...just wanted to see anyway. So I threw them into the ML.

On a different note, if you have non-OEM wheels but the OEM spare, try putting the spare on with the lug nuts you have. I found that the lug nuts the PO purchased with the wheels were too short for the OEM spare...that would have not been fun to discover had I been away from home with a flat tire!:eek:

Fitted all 4 OEM rims plus tires into the trunk with room to spare. At a guess I would say that they could swallow 4 19 inch tires at 7.5 width.
