300D tires.... CHEAP
I'm shopping for new tires, for my 78 300D, and I saw these on Discount Tire website..... How could tires, be so cheap????
$35 each, with a 30 mail in rebate... $110 for 4 tires, pre tax and mounting.... Insanely cheap... Now, I doubt I would ever trust purchasing these things, but figured some of you might be brave enough! http://beta.discounttire.com/en/buy-tires/barum-brillantis-2/p/11369 |

Quick update
My 300D had Michelins on it, the tread was like new but had some dry rotting from age and sitting. Discount tire only had 3 Michelins in stock, so I actually ended up with these that are linked above.... Took them on a 3 hour ride home, and have zero complaints. The compound seems to be soft though, so they will probably see 30-40k miles. Interested to see rain and snow performance. |

i have to say, that is pretty cheap!
I thought as these cars get older, the original tire sizes are going to have fewer and fewer options & then higher prices as well. It is good to see a new player on the block, even if it is budget oriented. I'd be curious to hear how these tires hold up over the long run and your opinion of them after another year's worth of driving in all weather. I too, have a 78 diesel, and these cars arent exactly speed demons and shouldnt be too hard on their tires, depending on your driving style of course.
