Gentleman, does anyone know if the lowering spring from the 300E would be usable for the 400E (same 124 body albeit a bit heavier)?
Also what is the suspension difference between these two cars?
Thanks for your help.

Alex

Don't even try it. The M103 and M104 motors required different springs than the M119's. Actually, there really are no Sportline springs for the W124 V8's as the heaviest Sportline springs are intended for the 6-cyl and would not be gaining anything when put on the V8 models. For a 400E/E420 I would go with Eibach springs and Bilstein Sport shocks F/R. BTW, 500E suspension conversion is not practically "do-able" so just go with the Eibach/Bilstein combo. You might also want to add a beefier antisway bar (a 500E bar would fit or a tuner/Eibach bar) A good first step would be to make sure you had the shortest pads available for the springs. Perhaps a one bump in front and two bump pads in back....

Hope this helps...Lee

I agree with Lee.

First of all, my thanks go to both Lee and Luke. I put the suggested 215/60/15 rubber on my 400E and it feels great. Now to the point, Lee you mentioned an anti-sway bar for the 400E. Do you know of any vendors that sell this anti-sway bar?

Brian,
We can probably special order you the 500E spec antisway bar or you can get the Eibach version through Luke/Tirerack. Either will do the job, depends if you have to have an OEM part. If you are interested submit a PartsShop inquiry and we'll look into it. In the meantime, I'm sure a quick look through the Tirerack suspension fittment guide will give you all the info you need for the Eibach bar.

Hope this helps...Lee
