In response to so many additions to Phils problems with the wheels he purchased on e-bay. I have opened this post for any and all comments on wheels from the E-Bay auction site.

This is in response to Lee's question in the closed thread "Please Help":

"I've heard that some of the AMG wheels are being done by BBS. Does AMG "do" their own wheels or do they outsource? Can you shed any light on that rumor? How about Carlsson?"

My Carlsson 1/6 wheels were made by O.Z. Racing. They are stamped O.Z. on the rear.

When a "tuner" company first starts up they do tend to outsource some products, such as wheels do to the high cost of wheel manufacturing. However, AMG has grown and while they may outsourced wheels years ago they do not any longer. Carlsson has outsourced a few different models in the past but I believe they to are eliminating this procedure.
Thanks, Luke

I just got a set of Lorinsers ( 17x8) 33 mm ofset, from E-bay.
I guess I'll find out soon if anything is wrong with them. Two conserns I already have:
Will they fit my car ( 90' 300CE )?
The tech from Tirerack (Burt) said that 225x45x17 will rub. What will not rub without the fender roll?
Second one - the weels had a lot of balance weights stuck to them, some were stuck on the outside part of th reem!! Does that meen that they are imposible to balance using inside only or somebody did a slopy job?

what is recommended for a 17x8.5 rim for a 89 300e (w124), with a fender roll and without a fender roll...i prefer to escape the fender rolling option if possible. fyi, i also plan to lower the car with the set of eibach progressive sitting in my closet right now..thanks

215/45/17 with out roll
225/45/17, 245/40/17, or 255/40/17 with roll

225/45/17 will be borderline stock, should fit fine with the fenders done. However, that is the absolute limit as fender liners, suspension pieces, etc limit you from there. Even with rolled fenders you don't want to go tearing your fender liners out... 245-255 is the limit for 500E front use, (275 in back) I sincerely doubt it will work on a normal W124 even with rolled fenders. Rolling the fenders buys you maybe 10mm section width in most cases or makes a fittment that occasionally rubs not rub.

Hope this helps...Lee
