Looking to improve the comfort on my w124 wagon.

Its currently riding on 225/50/17 and i am thinking of either getting 16" rims with 215/55/16.

What would be the quietest and most comfortable tire in either category. Dont care about winter at all or tread life. Just the quietest ride possible.

so in 205/65/15 it looks like the only two options (for quiet and comfort) are

bridgestone turaza quiettrack

or

michelin defenders.


The other option is "downgrading" to 195/65/15 ...but in that size i can get

Michelin Primacys or Premiers..


Would it be better to do the 205 with the noiser tires or 195 with the quieter tires?

Michelin and Continental for me.....better tires = better/quieter ride, longer effective wear life.

im going with the defender t+h. Having that extra flex in the tire will make more a difference than michelin primacy/premier a/s.

Just deciding if i can get away with 205/65 ... or if i have to get 195/65.

A previous W124 I got came with 205 65 15's, I dont remember any trouble from them but its been a while.

The narrower tire will feel more precise on steering and ride better. For best all around performance always go with stock sizes on a Benz.

I had 205/65R15s on mine before I changed the wheels to 16s. Now I run 215/55R16s.

Right now it's riding on bridgestone quiettrack 225/50/17s... from the previous owner and still has a decent amount of tread. I'm actually not minding the ride, but i feel the tire is a bit too wide. I have a set of OEM rims too (15") so I will either do 205/60/15 or 215/50/17 for the next tire purchase.

Any thoughts on T vs H rated tires. I am not going to drive anywhere close to those speeds, but is it safer to get an H rated tire? (i assume V is overkill and will make the ride harsher?)
