Installing 18" AMG 2-Piece "BBS" Split Rims on W208

Many owners were asking if it was possible to retro-fit the 18" Two-Piece Rims that were specific to the R129, onto the W208 chassis.

The answer is yes!

As a tribute to the 1998 F1 safety car, I went ahead and installed them on my CLK55 AMG.

The most important thing to keep in mind is tire sizes. The W208 has a tight front axle based on the W202 chassis so it's a tight fit with aggressive offsets front and rear.

You must stick to factory recommended tire sizes for 18" wheels, regardless of wheel width. The sizes are:

Front: 225/40/18
Rear: 255/35/18
