W126 7x15 steel wheels on 1989 W107 300SL

Can I fit W126 7x15 steel wheels on my 1989 W107 300SL?

"Flush" design alu-wheels, are the same for 1986+ W107 and W126, but is seems like W126 have more clearance for the fron callipers (I compared a W126 and W107 with same wheels by sticking my finger between the calliper and the rim).

My idea is to mount the W126 steel wheels together with 70īs style 15" hub-caps (used on long-version W115 and W123). I allready have the hub-caps, and I know the hub-caps fit the wheels (you need to modify the clams holding the hub-caps) but I donīt konw if the wheels fit the car. I would like to know before I order a set (Mercedes can not help me).

I also plan to remove the front spoiler and replace it with the front-piece from an early SL. Does anyone konw if they fit?
