16" wheel options for 202 (95 C-280) ???
greetings from new member!
i just picked up a 95 C-280 202 (to replace my totaled 300E, not my fault!) it has standard 8-slot in 15" with MXV4's and rides SUPERB now. however, i do want to go 16" (maximum) when the tires go away. another possibility is for HR or EB lowering springs as well. i REALLY like the 7 slot/spoke (with the center raised "rib") wheels from later "S" seris MB. i found out that the offset is bigger and would require spacers, and that the "S" uses 14mm bolts rather than the 12mm standard on the 202 (and many others) cars. i do not really like the 6 spoke wheel (16") as found on the 280 "Sport" model, but it leads me to believe that other 16" wheel options should work. i read several posts about the 8-slot wheels in 16" (possibly from mid-90's "S" class?) which indicated that these had bigger offsets that would not work on 202 without the use of wheel spacers (which i want to avoid). any suggestions on other 16" for the 202, or additional info on OE or AM 8-slot wheels would be GREATLY appreciated! thanks in advance for any help or opinions. - Benton in atlanta |

The late W124's had an option of an 8 hole 16" wheel. Have you looked at this option?

16" wheels
I got a set of stock W201 7 spoke 16" takeoffs from a tire dealer on Ebay for my '94 C280. Have seen this wheel on a '97 and it looked pretty sharp. These are 5x112 mm bolt pattern (same as my stock wheels) and are listed with a 35+ mm offset ( I was told it was 37mm which is 2mm more than my stock wheels) and that they will fit with 205-55-16 tire.

have you tried the "S" on your 202 C-280?
redswd, yes; the 16" 7 spoke "S" (it has a "rib" in the center of each spoke) wheel is EXACTLY want i want for my 95 C-280.
have you tried the ones you got on your 280? i was also told that this wheel uses a 14mm bolt instead of the 12mm bolt that is used on the 202 (C-280) cars. I also have seen several sets of these wheels on EBAY at very reasonable prices. many were "like new" takeoffs. i even found chrome ones at reasonable pricing as well, but unsure of chrome for my 280. i am very anxious to hear more about your experience. thanks for any info you can share. - benton |

C class wheels
Hi Benton c280
The wheels I'm getting aren't the ones you want. They have a rounded surface instead of the crease down the center. Don't know if the creased ones fit but they look great! I'll let you know how the ones I got fit when I get 'em on. Redswd |
