Please tell me W140 wheels will not fit a W126

Is this possible? If so I may have to lose my rims and have the W140 stock chrome rims put on. I am hoping it won't work. If so what all would be involved?

Could someone please explain why? I need some written proof or an explanation so I give it to my uncle.
Thanks for the help.

I'm pretty sure they at least have a different offset, if not a different lug pattern entirely. I think the 18x8" wheels Bekkers sold me for my 420SEL were of a W140 offset and they rubbed against the fenders during large dips in the road, but then again, they were 8" wide.

The wheel bolts on a 140 chassis are a larger diamter then a 126 chassis, they will not go into the holes in the rim for the bolts.

But you can get the look with aftermarket wheels, as I did.

In the wheels and tires forum there was mention that the 16x8 wheels off an early 129 will fit a 126 coupe, but not the rear of a 126 sedan.

The W140 has holes in the rotors and wheels for 14mm bolts and the W126 has holes for 12mm. (or it might be the other way around.) And as said, the offsets are completely different.

Does that mean that the 126 bolts will not hold the 140 wheels in place? Is the mounting hub diameter different such that 140 wheels won't be properly centered?

I see lots of 126s with 140-style wheels. Are they possibly the 124 version of the 140 wheels?
