hi...i have a set of 17x8.5 rims with 35 offset on my 89 300e...the tires that are on there are 215/45/17 dunlop 9000s..with such a wide rim/tire combination, i have about 15mm of tire sticking past the fender. i have no rubbing when i drive in a straight line or when i make comfortable turns..however, when i take the ramp at a quicker speed or when i take a quick turn, there is a small amount of rubbing. my question is: will a fender roll solve the problem, and will the extra stiffness achieved from lowering the car with eiabch progressive springs compensate for the shorter distance from the fender to the wheel..thanks...

That is why I told you to roll the fender to begin with and put on the right tire size. Because now, you have to do it anyways, and have tires that are too small for the car.

Just sell the rims and get new ones no wider than 7.5. Keep the tires. Why would you want to go through all this mayhem for little or no performance or aesthetic gain?

a fender lip roll will most likely not solve your problem because it does not effect the external area of the fender and you stated "15mm of your tire is sticking out past the fender" and the roll only effects the inside of the fender lip. maybe fender flairs or different wheels would be a resolution to your problems.
