Help with wheel offset size!

I am looking to buy a set of wheels from ebay for my 95 E420 and don't know if they will fit my car. The wheels on sale have the following markings stamped: 6 1/2 J X 15 H2 ET48. Then there are the following numbers 1244010802 7.123.

What all these numbers mean? I checked my owner's manual and found in the technical data section that I need rims with size 6 1/2 J X 15 H2 with wheel offset 1.7inch (44 mm).
would the above wheel fit in my car while keeping my same tires i have now?
Thanks.

Two basic issues to consider (among others):

1. The change in offset (ET#) is going to move the tire sidewalls slightly more (4mm = about 3/16 inch) toward the center of the car. You will need to check very carefully whether there are any suspension parts or bodywork against which the tire might rub in any possible position through the whole range of steering and supension movements. I myself don't know first-hand about models as new as yours, so I can't be specific.

2. The change in offset will also have a slight effect upon steering feel. Again, you need an answer from someone familiar with this exact model. However, I want to say emphatically that I don't like the idea of changing wheels for looks only, without some other gain to justify the expense -- I wouldn't do this unless I was getting a significantly wider rim (e. g. going from 6 1/2" to at least 7 1/2"), which would very likely require a lower offset number for adequate inside clearance.

You should probably also ask someone familiar with the W124 parts as to whether or not these rims are strong enough for your car.

Thnaks..

I don't know much about wheel numbers and just saw a bargain on a set of wheels and just wondered if the size fits perfectly. I am not looking to make the change if offset size is different. thanks again!

Be careful...Not many 15" wheel will clear your brakes. Funny but even the 15x7 190E Sportline wheels don't clear my 190E with E420 brakes. However the 15x6.5 E420 wheels do. Matter of fact, I have 4 of them and now they don't even fit the back of my 190E wit 95 SL600 brakes...So there goes my winter set of tires...

I'd sell them, but they are in the best condition, So I doubt I'd get much for them.

Anyways, if you truly need another set or something...just let me know. Email is probably the best way.
Charlie.
