Bridgestone Turanzas
Just put a new set of shoes on my car - chose the Bridgstone Turanza LS - H speed rated grand touring tire. Or however that is worded. They were about $25 cheaper per tire than the mxv4s, but still not cheap at $115 per tire. After 500 miles, I have to say they are excellent tires. They have kung fu grip, and are incredible in the wet. They are a little louder than the michys, though. I recommend them over the $$$mxv4s$$.

I want to hear more since Luke likes to recommend them. Have you tried them in light/any snow yet? Results? I also have heard that they quite down after broken in.

I tried them in some slush, and they were OK. There was some spinning, but broke free. I see we have similar cars, so as you know, if you want any real winter traction, you will need snow tires. In a few inches of snow you should be fine if you don't have any hills to climb. With no traction control and only one rear wheel spinning, these cars are never going to be very good in the white stuff. Mike

When I called TireRack I asked them what they recommended for a quiet tire and these are the ones they recommended. I have also seen people on here post that these were really quiet tires. It's interesting that you find yours louder than the MXV4s...which is what I have on mine now. Hmm.

I just put the LS-H on my 300SD about a week ago. They replaced MX4 (not MXV4 or whatever).
The wife drives the car but from the short amount that I've driven it, I would say that they are SLIGHTLY louder ( just got back from driving the car again and I have to say that I think now that there's really no difference in noise)....so slight that it really doesn't matter to me (and yes, road noise WAS one of my major concerns when looking for a new tire). Not enough drive time to really comment on any tractions characteristics. Also, I've seen it repeatedly said that it takes a couple hundred miles before a tire "settles in" to its long term character. I've only got maybe a 150mi. or so. Oh...and MIke, I got mine for $88/ea. installed. Just the standard 195/70/14 size.
