Beat my brains out the last month or so trying to decide if the mega-bucks Michelin Energy MXV4s were worth approx. twice the cost of a set of Dunlop D60 A2s. I guess I won't know since I opted for the Dunlops.
For what it's worth, I'm VERY pleased with the Dunlop D60 A2s. They are quite and handle very well on my heavy 126 car. I must confess that I'm not a "sporty" driver; most is highway-touring type driving. If this is your case and you only want to spend half the bucks, you may find the Dunlop D60 A2s to serve your needs quite well. Just my 2 cents. Mike Murrell |

Hello Mike. I was wondering what to put on the '85 300SD (W126) so your post caught my attention.
I recently put D6 A2's on the Audi, which previously had Michelins, and was also pleased. I think the Dunlops gave "quicker" handling to the Audi, did you find this on your 126? Also, what size are you using? 195/70 is "stock" on mine, but the PO had fitted Kelly Springfields, size 215/70's. Jim - prior to the Dunlops, I had Remingtons which are a side brand also made by Dunlop. They're cheap, but H-rated. I cannot really say anything bad about them.
My '91 300-SEL uses P205/65/15 tires. My driving style is "straight-line" and somewhat conservative so I'm probably not the best source for comparison questions. Your 300-SD is also a 126 car; it just has a wheel-base that's approx 6 in. less than mine. The D60 A2s were half the price of the Michelin Energy MXV4s. Before I bought my 126, I was told by more than one person that they eat tires. The Remingtons lasted about 40k. It's possible a higher priced tire would last longer, but for me, I just couldn't justify double the money. I've only had the Dunlop D60 A2s for about 2 weeks, but I'm quite pleased with them. Regards, Mike Murrell |

You guys have GOT to try out a set of Toyo Proxes H4s. Y'all would be shocked at the combination of ride, responsiveness, longevity and price offered by that particular tire. My bro-in-law's on his second set on his W124 300TE in a 205/65-15, and he couldn't be more pleased. I personally run 225/50-16 Toyo Proxes FZ4s on my wagon and think they're wonderful (and the z-rated Toyos that just came off the wagon...Proxes T1s... had nearly 50k miles on them, which is unheard of in a Z-rated tire)
