225/45/17 Tires- Luke advice advice please.

Luke may I have your opinion, 1999 BMW 328i, 225/45/17, is there a major difference in these two tires, Turanza LS-Z and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, also the way they will perform on this car. She wants a very good wet performance tire, a comfortable & quiet tire- (one that does not become very noisy with wear). As you aware of from the tire size fitment , this car has the sport suspension, so I’m not sure if these two tires I suggested will perform well on this car? You know what I think of the A/S tires, Quoting “definitely the cream of the crop when it comes to all-season performance tires”

Also Luke from your list is there a shop in Wheeling WV that will install her tires?
enjoy your drive, timreid

Ride vs. Handling

Well one tire is a Grand Tourer the other is a Ultra High Perf A/S.

If Ride & comfort are the main concerns, I don't think you will be disappointed in the Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z. Its at the top of the charts in its category. IT also has a 40k mileage warranty. Pilots don't have one.

But lets see what Luke thinks.

the Turanza will accel in ride quality, lower noise levels and tire life while the Pilot will be better in steering response, handling and snow traction ....

do you drive the car as a touring sedan with some aggressive tendencies or as a sporty car that can seat 4

Tread wear on the Bridgestones is 320 on the Pilot A/S 400.

45 series tire doesn't offer a lot of comfort unless u run them at MFG pressure spec and even then.

Warranty on Stones is 5 Years - Free replacement up to 3 yrs. Pro rated 4th and 5th year or to 2/32nds of an inch remaining tread.

Michelins are hand inspected, 6 years - Free replacement for first 2/32 of wear, then prorated to 2/32.

neither has road hazard, which is 99% of problems.

I was suprised at the cost of the Bridgestones, Carbon must have went up?

Bridgestone construction:
Turanza LS tires feature twin, high-tensile steel belts with spiral-wrapped nylon reinforcement to stabilize the tread area and enhance handling, high-speed capability and ride quality while minimizing weight. Additionally, a single strand of steel that is spirally wound forms Bridgestone’s O-Beads that are rounder for a better fit to the wheel and to further enhance handling and ride quality.

Michelin construction:
On the inside, two high-tensile, lightweight steel cord belts are reinforced with Michelin’s “Filament At Zero” (FAZ) technology under the tread area. Michelin’s FAZ spirally wraps an individual strand of Kevlar across the entire tread area under the steel belts, and again above the steel belt’s edges to enhance wear and ride comfort while providing high speed durability and predictable handling.

In looking at the reviews note the number of miles for each, The rating have a tendancy to go down over time, as more people respond.

either one would be a good tire. Luke will take of you, I would recommend the Rack and an authorized installer.
