1 last 300CE Rim size question...
Thanks to Luke and several others that helped me upgrade to the MB 8-holes from the stock 15 hole rims. I had 1 last question as I'm always a bit confused on the MB offset and rim sizes.
I'm looking at a set of 5 spoke rims (E-class) with the following numbers: My current rims ar 15x7's (5x112 and 38mm I beleive) and I'm looking for some "summer rims/tires" a bit larger. Is a 16x8 too wide (36mm offset if I'm correct) for my 89 300CE? Rim #'s 8J X 16 H2 ET36 On inside of wheel: A 211 401 33 02 AND B6 647 21 58 Current tires mounted are 215 55 R16's Thanks for the help Brian |

as stated before do not run a wheel wider than 7.5" on a W124 chassis car unless you want to deal with tire rub issues

Thanks !
Thanks Luke.
I always confuse the sizes between my 300CE and the S500 as far as width and offsets. I've got a few nice "leads" on some 16x7's for the CE. I was checking the Tirerack site for size recomendations for the CE and it looks like 205/55/16 is the "default" tire on a 16. I've seen a few posts on the board with 124 owners running a bit wider tire. Any thoughts on going a bit wider without "issues"? A search seems to bring up various sizes on several 124's. I'm anxious for my first Tirerack order!. |

the 205/55-16 is the safest size to use ..... 215/50-16 work but, it is a rare size and 225/50-16 typically rubs the feders

205's it is..
Thanks Luke.
205's are pretty much what I've decided on as well. I did'nt want to have any issues or have to roll the fenders etc. Thanks for the info. I'll use your name when I place my order. Brian |
