Will 129 wheels fit a 124 300TE?

The reason I ask is that I found these on Ebay
http://cgi.aol.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38662&item=2449915373
The seller doesn't know the width or offset.
The action does give the part # on the back of each wheel as 124 401 1402.
I never knew of a 16" 124 wheel except for the 16x8 on the 500E.
I have a 1991 300TE and need a set of wheels.
Thanks, Bob

In general, yes. If you go plus-one to plus-three, you want to keep the tire sizes in check, but anything on the order of a 16x8 wheel will easily work on a 300TE.

Cheers,
Gerry

I agree. R129 wheels will stick out a little bit on W124 Coupes and Sedans because of the offset but they always seem to look great on Wagons.

The width, diamter, and offset will be stamped on the inside of the wheel on one of the spokes.

I'm just worried about rubbing the tires on the fenders if they are too wide. Pennsylvania has lots of uneven roads, and I do tend to drive my 124 very quickly.

I've been actively browsing Ebay for nice "summer" wheels.
From what I've read, 7.5 is what a lot of people say is the max width for an unmodified, non-500E/E500 W124 fender.
Wheels that definitely won't fit:
W123/W116 and earlier - only 14"
W126 (wrong offset, ET25 vs ET37)
W140 (offset difference also)
W201 - too narrow
W220 - wrong offset
CLK wheels, rears too wide...

I'm not sure about whether R129 wheels would rub, nor am I sure about the W202 wheels, whether they would be correct.

I'm thinking any E class wheel from the W124 on should fit, under 8 inch width.
Or has anyone run 8 inch wheels on a W124 wagon without *any* rubbing?

Just wanted to ask about this again, because I have an opportunity to get some R129 16x8 wheels and tires, 215/55/16; the wheel measurements are 8J 16 H2 ET34 I believe from a 1990-1991 R 129 SL.

Here are the two combinations I am using now/have used without problems...

6 1/2 J x 15 H2 P195/65R15
ET43
124 401 0802

7JX15 P205/60R15
H2ET37
A202 401 1602

I don't know about this deal,,,, I tried my SL wheels on my TE and they looked WAY too wide. You better make sure before you buy those. I bought a set of wheels from a site member for my TE that he had on his 500E and they didn't come close to fitting. So I bought the SL and they fit perfect. There is always a solution to a problem.

Lightbulb ET or offsets

Are a RWD (base model) 300TE offsets different then the 4MATIC model?
Mine read 45 on them.

Also I believe after around the year 2000 (although the bolt pattern is the same) the lug bolt holes are a bit different
so without the correct bolts they wont work or wont work at all.
