Lee,

Will the factory 8-hole rims from the '92 400E fit in the '87 190E/2.6? If they does fit, what size of tire would you suggest? Can 215 or 225 tires fit on the rims and in the 190E fender well?

Thanks for the input!

Jason

Jason,
By the best info I've heard you can only really push 215 section width on normal 190's. (you can go wider on 16v's) The 15" 8-holes from a 400E should fit, but if you are buying new wheels you'd be better off to get a set specifically for your application.

Since the OEM size is 185/65/15, I would recommend 205/55/15. In that size the tires I'd recommend are the Michelin Pilot SX GT for a sporty fittment, the Michelin Pilot XGT V4 for a sport/treadwear/snow/etc traction compromise. The Dunlop SP9000 is a good ride/handling compromise. Let me know what your priorities are and we'll be happy to discuss options. Or just call Tirerack and talk to one of their professionals. They will be able to tell you exactly what will fit, what is available in different sizes, and what will work best with your priorities.

Hope this helps...Lee

the later 190e models came with a Sportline version, that came with the 8-hole wheels. I don't know if this is the same as the one for the W124 body with respect to width and offset.

however, i instead went for 15" Borbet ReplicaII's, which are replicas of the 8-hole OEM Benz wheels, but with subtle differences. These had an offset of 36mm vs the stock 49mm(?), and they look very good, being almost flush with the bodywork. I used 205/60 tires.

if you want your benz to be true-blue OEM, you might want to lookup those OEM Sportline wheels.
