WTB 1989-1991 black 560sel

Hello...

I am looking for an '89-91 black/pearl black 560SEL with gray or black interior. The physical condition has to be excellent.... no rust, southern car, no dings, scratches in paint, etc.

I would either want one with a bad engine/transmission or with no engine/transmission for a very good price...

Edit: Just to make it clear, the car has to be in the US. Eventhough I am in europe until next summer, just need to point out that I am reffering to a 560 in the states...

560 Sel

I have the perfect 560 sel for you. It needs nothing. Calif car, was owned by MBZ dealer sales mgr. Has had timing chaing -guides done , rebuilt trans, paint (black) looks like new , really better than new, I wax it about once a month and keep it covered in garage. Interior is like new Black. It looks like a show car, I have owned it for about 3 years and have done a lot to it. painted bottom gray panels and bumpers black to match car, new suspension parts as needed, polished out wheels, had engine gone over many times to get perfect, just spent $1700 getting idle to be correct , was idling to fast, around 950 rpm. Ive put about 1500-2000 miles on the car in the last 3 years. I just bought a 2002 E55 and now have 4 MBZ and need to sell at least one. This is a 1988 560 SEL Black and Black with about 141K miles. I am asking $9100 for it and it needs nothing. Very strong engine and looks like a new car in and out. Let me know if your interested. Thanks Mike

Thank you Mike for the offer, however I am looking for atleast a 1989 year range. The reason is I want the last updated design. Also, the price you're asking is a bit above my budget range. At this point I am looking for one that needs work where I can make an engine swap for a M119 motor.(more power + better gas milage).

A repair shop near me has been advertising one on their lot for a couple of weeks. I'll get and forward the contact info tomorrow.

I saw that you said you wanted at least 1989. Would 1986 560SEL be ok?

Snibble - I noticed that your 88' 300SEL (basically same car that I have) was totaled less than 60 days ago . If you don't mind talking about it, what were the circumstances of the damage (was the car in Poland at the time)? What was the extent of the damage to the 300SEL vs the damage to the opposing vehicle/object.

I'm just curious to know what it took to destroy such a strong car.

Hi there...

The car was in Columbus, Ohio. Thats where I am from. I am currently studying abroad though. The accident took place one week prior to me leaving for Europe.

To summarize what happened, my car was driven by a family friend. She was stopped at a red light. A driver of a 2003 Mazda Protege was not paying attention and crashed in to the rear, presumably at the speed limit of 35mph.

The Mazda went underneath the rear bumper, and it pretty much got the worst of it. You couldn't tell what make the car was due to the damage it sustained. However, being that it was a japanese and a more modern car, it would have taken a lot more damage to cause the insurance to total it. The result was the Mazda sustained approx $6k in damage. My car's damage consisted of a busted left rear qtr panel, causing damage to the spare wheel well, rear muffler, left tail light, rear bumper, a busted radiator, left headlight lens. The damage of my car was nearly 2x the $$$ damage the mazda got.

The 300SEL was a great car, i would recommend it to people. However, I would like to test out a V8 car... as well go in on a nice project involving a m119 engine.

sounds like your family friend hit the car in front - in order to sustain damage to radiator. Is that right? Did the airbags deploy, by chance?

Were you able to keep the car for parts, or did it get hauled off?

The car was hit hard enough to cause it to move forward and hit a car in front of it. No airbags deployed. Yes, I bought the car back and it would be "drivable" if I put $500 in to it.. but I would rather have it for parts.

Peter... I haven't had any chance to go look for a dealership/junkyard here in Poland. I have been REALLY busy at the dental school. You would be amazed at the amount of crap medical/dental students need to learn and memorize right now. When I find time.. I will look around and let you know.

In the mean time.. I'm still lookin for that 560 shell
