This is the second of my deceased father-in-law's Benzes. Love them to death but my wife and I do not have the garage space. I'm hanging on to his '80 450SLC and those in the SL forum have followed my exploits on that.

This is a later 116 in very good condition. Some nicks and scratches here and there in the body. Smells like horsehair but not stale or wet horsehair. Rear seat cover needs to be restretched and the pad might need to be replaced. Looks like the front window was sealed with caulk (yep, that's my father-in-law) and there is a small water leak on the driver's side door, only apparent in a driving summer-type rainstorm (ask me how I know).

A/C blows cold, all the automatic climate control functions work properly. Cleaned and re-bulbed the instrument panel and gauges, the tachometer is sometimes intermittent. Cruise control on stalk works. Runs very smooth with no vibrations. Stops strong. Tires have good amount of tread on Michelin MXV4's. Also have an extra bundt wheel in the trunk. Sony CD player recently installed.

Driver's side interior door handle needs to be looked at, does not always open the door from the inside. Vacuum locks work on all sides. Also has a filtravedo rear window glare shade. Sunroof smooth and does not stick. Has shade on roof.

Linkage needs to be checked, accelerator sticks a bit. (10/27/04) A good shot of Silicone Spray seems to have cleared this up.


Also has an additional reserve tank inside the trunk.

Was bought with 69,000 miles in 2000, driven a lot from NY to FL. Currently has 147,000.

Father in law replaced the lights with euro lights last year.

There is a big binder with most of the service records and original invoice ($27,332.00)
