1979 300SD (W116) For Sale in NY
Hello all. I want to thank everyone in the diesel section who has has helped me in the 3 years that I have owned this car. The car is a 1979 300SD-W116 body style. Car has about 150,000 miles or less since the odometer stopped working. I purchased the car with a true 110,000 miles on her. She is Metallic brown (repaint) with bamboo MB tex interior. She was my daily driver for 2.5 years. Here is a list of what has been done in my possesion:
Rebuilt transmission March 2003, New blower motor this year, regular oil changes with 10-w40, New HD Bilsteins all around with new springs and spring seats in the rear. The engine in the car is strong and pulls the car no problem (faster than my 1984 300CD). I was planning on keeping this car forever but the purchase of 1993 gas MB and obtaining one of my dream cars, a 1976 BMW 2002 has left me short on garage space. The car comes with the following parts: New rear window seal, used rear window regulator, used B pillar piece, new material for the rear hat shelf with an original one to make a pattern, used rust free front driver and passenger side doors with glass (thanks Jim from Indiana), 1 used fog light, used oil cooler (check the price at the dealer for this!!), new upper and lower oil cooler lines, new differential mount, new trail arm bushings, new sub frame mounts, used passenger side mirror, and finally a used UNCRACKED dashboard with perfect wood!! All these parts will come with the car and need to be installed. The car is located in a garage in Syosset, NY which is on Long Island. As you can see from the parts list (which took 2 years to collect) selling the car was not the original plan. I have pictures of everything described above which I can e-mail to interested parties. Now the all important question, how much. I am asking $3000 for the car and $3500 for the car and all the parts. I have listed the car here once before and also on Craig's List. I had a few tire kickers and a ton of e-mail requests. I had some offers but deep down I never really wanted to sell the car. Now I must sell it by end November or one of my prized vehicles will have to be stored outside. I just don't have the heart to do this so the 300SD must leave my fleet. If anybody is really interested in the car e-mail me at david@intextrade.com. If you are interested in the car but feel the price is unfair contact me as well. I would really like to see the car go to a diesel head who will keep it on the road. |
