1984 W123 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel

This is a Tan 1984 Mercedes 300D, I’ve owned it for 4 years, I received it as a gift from my dad.

I've put a new transmission in a year and a half ago had it done at Browns Transmissions, every gear is smooth except for 1st, when you try to take off it flares up and goes into gear, after that everything shifts smooth. This problem just started less than 2 weeks ago. I believe the bands need to be tighten up.

I rebuilt the front end as well, Upper and lower control arms, ball joints, tie rods and center drag link, steering stabilizer, and wheel bearings. Put 4 new Goodyear Comfortread on, but I did not get an alignment so there is wear on the front, but I do have a warranty on them.

I put in a used speedo, tack, and clock gages, so the mileages is off. It says 230,000 but it's only 181,000.

Less than 2 years ago, I put in 2 new rear axles.

Radiator and Fan has been replaced as well as thermostat.

New battery and alternator.

I have extra parts, two new front rotors with brake lines, never put on. Manifold, switches, wood grain, all included. I new heater block, old one quit, just needs put in. Surprisingly still starts up rather well without plugging in.

New motor mounts and engine shocks.

New mono valve.

A/C has a leak, I disconnected, but can be put back together.

All power windows work, except rear left. Sunroof works as well.

Still have Medicine Case in tacked with few supplies.

New valve cover gasket.

New Oil Pan and Gasket.

New Air Cleaner bushings. If you have owned this car you understand why this is important lol.

Two new Mercedes emblem and Star on front, someone took old.

Engine runs great.

Body has little rust, most was on center of rear door, but I cut out and filled in the hole. Car needs paint job, previous owner did a ****ty paint job. Interior needs cleaned up, most stains on carpet and cuts in seat. Dash has small cracks, antenna is broken off.

It has been a good car, but because of my new job I need a pickup.

I HAVE MOST RECEIPTS TO PROVE PARTS HAVE BEEN BOUGHT AND/OR WORK DONE.

Asking $1000 o.b.o

Steve,

What happened to the Vacuum lines that run to the unit on top of the valve cover??? These have a huge impact on tranny shifting.

Depending on the condition of the trans, you can get one to shift decent without them. There primary function(in 83 anyways) is for EGR control, and too apply high vacuum at closed throttle. After the throttle is opened the bleed valve on the injection pump takes over.

Yes, the vaccum lines on the valve cover just controlled the egr which has been disconnected so I just rerouted the line. Believe me the tranny still acts up with or without vacuum, I tested, plus the lines have been replaced and the pump is still strong.

Where is the rust? I see you fixed the door... any other rust-through? Not a bad looking car!

The only other spots of rust that I know of are in the engine bay near the inner fender wells, you can see some of it in the pictures, but it's only surface rust.
