A friend of mine is selling her '89 560SEL - she is 74 and the second owner of the car. She bought it in 1992 in Nashville. The car had a new engine installed about 20,000 miles ago (factory crate engine - no one told her about the timing chain problems
) The body has 183,000 on it. New tires, new battery, recent tune up (but with platinum plugs so they would have to be replaced). Oil changed every 3,000 miles or less. Original Becker replaced with an Alpine unit. The car was maintained by ******** in Nashville and they have all the records from new. The rear suspension is good with no leakdown or hardness when driven.
Now for the bad - paint has seen it's better days. Some fading on the bumper covers, hood, top, and trunk. Until 2 years ago car was garage kept but has been exposed to the Ky. weather - but she won't drive when there is snow on the roads - so no salt.
The interior is about an 7 out of 10. The center roll top cover is broken. The console trim piece (where window switches are located) has been repaired. The spark plugs will have to be changed (installed platinums). The rear seat footrests are in the car - floor mats are either dirty or so bunched up they will have to be replaced. Seats have the usual cracking but not horrible. There are typical dings and a small dent on the trunk lid around the 560 emblem.
This would be a great daily driver for someone looking for a good dependable car. This car makes trips back and forth to Nashville often.
As I said, this car belongs to a friend of mine. She wants "her baby" to go to someone knowledgeable about these cars and someone who will be able to maintain it. She can no longer afford to keep the car because upkeep, fuel costs, divorce, etc. I currently do not have pics but will try to get some posted - may have to have someone else do it as I am somewhat computer illiterate!
