1986 190e 2.3 5 speed for sale
I am going back east to help out my parents and their financial troubles, so the 190e has to go. It has been my daily driver for the last 2 months and has never left me stranded after the cylinderhead r&r.
It has; 190,000 miles Euro headlights momo shift knob(I'm proud of this one) less then 5000 miles on a rebuilt cylinderhead over $3000 in receipts(not including cylinderhead r&r) 16v rear spoiler Zender rear bumper x-drilled rotors up front 5 speed manual transmission Pioneer head unit with pioneer 6.5in speakers in the rear the bad; Trunk doesn't open(hopefully I can fix this before someone buys it) dent on front fender flare rusty jack points A/C doesn't work but needs recharge Starts hard when hot erratic idle when cold Has the stock muffler on, but rear muffler was deleted for a twin tip outlet pipe. It is basically a hack job to pass emissions(which it did). I'll post more when I can remember what else I but into it. $1600 or best reasonable offer some pictures on http://www.cardomain.com/id/pistolpete513 e-mail or AIM me for phone # and/or more details pistolpete5113 at hotmail.com

After all the engine work, how is the compression? Is bad compression cause for hard starts when hot?

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I haven't checked the compression after replacing the cylinderhead, and head gasket. I am assuming it is fine and the head gasket doesn't seem to leak. there are no vacuum leaks to the intake manifold, I tested this using propane and seeing if the idle would raise. Here is the information I have sent through e-mail to some people interested in the car locally:
During cold starts, the car will fire right up, but after 30 seconds or so, the engine would stall out. I have traced this to the idle air control valve, which is opening and closing at the wrong times. At hot starts, the car would take a few seconds to fire up, which has been traced to the cold start valve shooting gas into the intake when it shouldn't on a warm engine. When the car is at operating temperature, the car runs and drives fine. It gets aprox. 25mpg in town. Cosmetically, it has a dent on the front driver side fender, and has been keyed along the length of the car on the driverside, which has been poorly touched up by the previous owner. I have installed a pioneer head unit with 6.5 inch pioneer speakers on the rear deck. It also has European style headlights, and amber turn signals. The car has alot more power after the engine rebuilt. Here is a sort list of the things that I have had replaced: ball joints on both front control arms replaced one front control arm X-drilled Brembo front rotors New stock replacement rotors for the rear recent tune-up Updated Timing chain tensoner All subframe and control arm bushings(Have receipt totalling $2763.00) Wheel bearings on all for wheels Front and rear shocks were replaced 3 years ago(30k miles since) H&R lowering springs installed 2 years ago Master Cylinder and Slave cylinder replaced 3 years ago All engine gaskets replaced Rebuilt cylinderhead less then 10k miles ago Replaced evaporator to A/C(Has not been recharged since the engine was rebuilt) This car is my daily driver right now. I drive it about 30 miles a day to and from work. It was originally a Connecticut car, then was registered in MA when I bought it and drove it out to Colorado. This car is very capable of driving the 75mph speed limit here. I even have kept the vehicle emissions inspection reports from Connecticut, MA and Colorado, and the car passed flawlessly every inspection. Clutch and shifting are overall pretty smooth. The previous owner has said he replaced the clutch, but I can not confirm this. Asking price is $1500 E-mail for more info and my phone number for any more information or pictures by request. Peter v.
