Fs: 1978 280e
Howdy everyone,
I'm selling my 1978 280E after three years of ownership, as I'm moving overseas in a few weeks. I've posted some photos here, trying to show both the good and the bad here, as I don't want to mislead anyone or waste anyone's time. If you're unfamiliar with the car, it's one of the earliest W123s, I believe, and is a four-door sedan with six cylinder gasoline engine. There seems to be a lot fewer of these than the diesels around, and I'm always surprised at how many people stop to check out the car or want to ask questions in parking lots. This has been a very solid first car for me, teaching me a lot about being a good owner, and would be great for the right MB aficionado and/or the teenager in their family who maybe wants something with better performance than say a 240D, but that still doesn't lend itself to aggressive driving. The good: Engine is in very good shape Car has been extremely reliable and well taken care of, judging by the the extensive service records from all the POs and my mechanic's comments Only 135,000 miles, despite its age Doesn't seem to be leaking or using oil or any other fluids Most of the interior is in good shape Tires are new enough to still have the tips on them AC works! Speakers have been replaced with some Infinities Original radio is still there for cosmetic reasons, but a Sony CD player is installed in the glove compartment (you can see this in the photos) A sort of stereo control joystick has been setup pretty slickly in the space under the arm rest (you can see this in the photos right by the cupholders) I installed some adjustable cupholders in that center spot near the shifter Relatively new MB floor mats purchased by me Power sunroof and windows work The bad: The front passenger seat could stand to be rebuilt (not uncomfortable to sit in, just sinks a little) Cruise control doesn't work Trip odometer doesn't work Motor for the antenna doesn't seem to work A couple cracks in the dash (see the photos) The paint is pretty bad in some spots, particularly the roof where all the clear coat seems to be off, which I've tried to show in the photos, but it's kind of hard to capture. Some of this looks different than it actually is because there are rain drops beaded on the roof, too. If you have any questions or would like to see photos of something I haven't shown, just respond or send me a PM and I'm happy to oblige! this car is in Eugene, Oregon and I'm asking for $3500 OBO. Thanks

All things considered, your car appears to be in very good shape, especially considering the year.
Most W123's I've seen are in much worse condition.
